A Serenade for our Beloved Father

Our first attempt to serenade our father last year was a failure because we never managed to finish the song. We’re just able to sing the first line of the song and after it, we exploded into laughter. Then we repeated from the start again. But then, again, we’re only up to the first line of the song because we burst into laughter again.  It’s really hard to sing early in the morning because our voices sounded weird, funny and out of tune. Actually, we followed this tradition from my mother’s family line. Wherein, members of the family will offer a song to our dear grandmother at the dawn of her birthday and my mother’s family is a big family. But now that our grandmother was already in heaven, we opt to continue doing this to our parents. We are a family of  four siblings plus two more members, and that is my husband and my sister’s hubby.

Now, our father’s natal day has come again and we’re on our way to our second attempt to serenade our beloved father and aimed to execute and finished it right.  We came to our parent’s house in perfect timing, wherein the sun hasn’t yet awakened.

We positioned outside their bedroom window and thankful that our dogs seemed to cooperate too because they were behaving and not making any noise.

We lit the candles and ready our song lyric copies with a super big smile. And here we go. We have to start. Singing the first line and hearing that our voices sounded funny and out of tuned again, I saw their faces controlling their emotions not to burst into laughter again. At the back of my mind, “Oh no, this can’t happen again! I must control myself not to laugh and must focus to continue the song. “But I really can’t help myself so I wasn’t able to sing with them on the four times of repeating the song. We paused for a while, concentrate, and for the fifth time, we overcome it and continued singing until we finished it at last. Wow, I felt so relieved and glad that we did it. After the singing, our father said his testimony and appreciation. He was really happy and surprised because he doesn’t have any idea that we will serenade him on his birthday. Then we get inside the house, sit at the dining table and have a family chit-chat while having some coffee and steamed banana. Our home was filled with laughter and happiness as we welcomed the day when our dear father was born. Thank you Lord for giving us a father like him.

To Emars WavePool we go…

At lunch time we’re all packed and at 2 o’clock in the afternoon we’re on our way to Emars wave pool in Davao city. It’s the only operational wave pool here in Mindanao. This will be our second time of visit at Emars hotel, restaurant and beach resort. The first one was with our friends and because my husband and I liked it there, thoughts came into our mind of going back there. And so this is it! We’re really going. Yahoo!

Upon reaching the place, we went straight to the reception area and checked in. Actually, we had made a reservation for the room just two weeks ago to make sure that everything will fall into place. And the room rates were really worth it. We had the matrimonial room for only 1500 Php. Inclusive with it were two free wave pool pass (wave pool fee is 200 Php per head) and two free breakfast meal.

These were there free shower accessories.

We’re craving to eat our new favorite meal at chow king fast food. Their store had a branch at SM Citimall that happens to be just nearby the resort. So we went out for dinner only to be dismayed because we didn’t like the store’s sanitation plus the attitude. It was really disappointing. Going back to the hotel, we changed our clothes then headed to the pool at around 8 Pm and we’re still able to catch up the last round of 30 minutes waving motion in the pool. Before it starts an alert that sounded like a siren of a ship will be blown. There are life guards around and lots of available life jackets to use for free. So, it’s safe for the kids too and for those who can’t swim… like me, hehe! Our most liked part there was the Jacuzzi, having a chit-chat while chilling around. There were water slides too and other stuffs that kids would love.

After the pool moments, we went back to our room and took a hot shower. We ordered another food again for our round two dinner. And it’s nice and good.

The next morning, we took our breakfast at seven in the morning at their restaurant. The ambient of the place was really nice and cool. Tables and chairs were made of wood with an open wooden wall so the sea is overlooking, plus there’s a water fountain in front. And the smell of the sea is great to the feeling. After eating, we went back to our room, watched some TV shows, and then swimming time again.I’m not really a swimmer. I can’t swim when the water level is above my height but I’m so in love with the sea, pool, waterfalls, lakes, and anything that has to do with water.

We checked out at 12 noon. We’re really having a good time and planning to come again soon to Emars Wavepool Davao.
