The sun was up already as I was walking on a damp and mossy trail not far away from the campsite one morning, I stumbled on to this beautiful fern’s fiddlehead.
The furled fronds of a young fern and its sori arrangement always get my attention. I find it amazing how they differ in look, structure and sizes. I even created a little fernery in our yard. Ferns help in cleansing the air.
When the fiddlehead unfurl this is what it will become.
I found this plant (Cardiospermum halicacabum) in the grass fields near a lake. Balloon vine is a herbaceous climbing plant. When you touched the fruit, its filled with air, just like a balloon. The fruit started as green then turned red. When I started taking its pictures, Christine commented that it’s a food to snakes. Then I asked why? She said ” I don’t know, it’s knowledge that was just passed along to me.
